7th & 8th GRADE: SOLVING EQUATIONS(MULTIPLICATION & DIVISION)

7th Grade Lesson 3-2B

8th Grade Lesson 4-1D

SOLVING ONE-STEP MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION EQUATIONS

Vocabulary

ONE STEP MULTIPLICATION EQUATIONS

In order to solve a multiplication equation you would use the division property of equality. For example in the equation 3n=12, you will divide both side by 3 and you will get the answer. Why both sides, because it's an equation, therefore whatever you do on one side you would do on the other.

ONE STEP DIVISION EQUATIONS

When solving division equations, all you have to do is multiply the two numbers. Because when solving equations we do the opposite operation on the other side. In the example below, the 7 is being multiplied by the 3 to solve the equation.

SOLVING ONE-STEP ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION EQUATIONS

Vocabulary:

An equation is a sentence stating that two quantities are equal. When you solve an equation, you are finding the values of the variables that make the equation true. You can solve an equation by using inverse operation. This means that you change the sign of the number that is being move to the other side.

7th Grade: Lesson 2-3E

Lesson 2-3E: Power and Exponents.

Two or more numbers that are multiplied together to form a product are called factors. When the same  factors is used, you may use exponents to simplify the notation. The exponents tell how many times the base is used as a factor.
